Terms & Conditions

  1. These Terms and Conditions apply to Perform For Life (herewith referred to as PFL) lessons delivered to students, applied for and consented to by the parent or guardian. Changes to these Terms and Conditions require the written consent of Perform For Life. PFL reserves the right to vary these Terms and Conditions at anytime and without notice.
  2. All Parents/Guardians must complete and sign a Registration Form prior to a Student participating in PFL lessons.
  3. The signed registration form establishes a contract between PFL and the Student and Parent/Guardian, on the understanding that the Parent/Guardian has read, understood and accepts these Terms and Conditions, our Safeguarding, Privacy and Behaviour Policies, available on our website, and our Covid-19 and Online Lesson Policies sent to Parent/Guardians before lessons where applicable.
  4. The registration form also contains a required answer regarding Parent/Guardian permission for Photo/Video usage, meaning permission must be granted or denied before a Student begins lessons.
  5. Written confirmation by PFL will then be given, confirming receipt of application, the Student’s place, deposit/fees paid, termly fees, methods of payment, and relevant course details.
  6. Any free trial (taster lesson) is strictly at the approval of the Director, subject to availability and does not guarantee a place at PFL. A free trial may not be claimed in retrospect, and is not applicable during a Holiday Workshop.
  7. PFL operates on an Autumn, Spring and Summer term basis (3 terms per academic year). Any mention of ‘term’ refers to this basis.
  8. Fees are to be paid in full prior to the start of each term unless other arrangements have been agreed with the Director/Tutor. Students will not have their lessons timetabled until fees have been paid in full. Methods of payment: Direct Transfer to PFL bank account or Cash (only at the venue, accompanied by a signed note from the Parent/Guardian – please do not post cash payments).
  9. Once the fees are received in full, a refund for cancellation of lessons or non-attendance cannot be given.
  10. Failure to pay termly fees when due enables PFL to reserve the right to ask the Student to not attend until termly fees are received and brought up to date. Late fees may incur a £5.00 admin fee.
  11. One half a term’s notice is required to cancel the contract between PFL and the student before the new term commences. Parents/Guardians must therefore notify PFL by the end of half-term of the current term. In that case the contract will expire on the last day of the current term. Termination will only be accepted when received by the Parent/Guardian in writing. If not received in writing by the end of half-term, a full further half a term’s fees will be invoiced for and due. Any outstanding fees will be payable.
  12. Lesson fees are subject to annual review.
  13. Parents / guardians are responsible for paying LAMDA / Trinity / RSL exam fees and for any necessary exam materials.
  14. Lessons take place once a week during term time. Lesson dates and times are sent to all Parents/Guardians/Students in writing before they begin.
  15. Notification of any absenteeism from lessons must be given in writing one week in advance of the lesson, including for a School event, School trip, School exam, medical appointment, etc. If a Student is unwell, they/their Parent/Guardian must inform PFL via email or on our mobile number by 8:30am on the day of their lesson. The lesson will then either be made up fees refunded. If the Student/Parent/Guardian does not notify PFL by the above times or fails to attend a lesson/s, the missed lesson’s fees are not refundable, unless the circumstances (in the opinion of the Director) warrant a special concession.
  16. Providing the Student/Parent/Guardian informs PFL by the above time on the day of their lesson, PFL will make up/refund fees of lessons missed due to illness one lesson only per term.
  17. A lesson may be cancelled by the Director/Tutor at anytime, but in such an event, the appropriate fee shall be refunded, or the lesson time made up.
  18. Should it be necessary to cancel lessons on account of extreme weather conditions (snow, ice, flood, gale force winds etc.), epidemic or national crisis, or any circumstances over which PFL have no control, fees cannot be returned or compensation made.
  19. In the event of a lesson being cancelled by the Director/Tutor, Parents/Guardians will be notified either by email or text, using the details provided on the signed Registration Form.
  20. Dates and times for the following term will also appear on the PFL website.
  21. Duo and group lessons will be subject to numbers / ages / ability / previous experience. All duo and group lessons rely on the commitment of every participant. There is an expectation to attend all lessons and arrive on time every week.
  22. Should a Student need to bring their own musical instrument to a lesson (for example, as accompaniment for a song), they / the Parent/Guardian should ensure adequate insurance is in place in advance.
  23. For lessons taking place in a Students’ home, Students should be in a room or space where they will be undisturbed, but with an open door and where a Parent / Guardian will be within earshot.
  24. All Students should wear clothing appropriate for movement, ensuring use of either jazz shoes or trainers, that laces are done up and that trousers are not too long.
  25. PFL reserves the right to implement a compulsory uniform in the future.
  26. PFL reserves the right to make changes to the timetable and to the teaching staff.
  27. PFL reserves the right to exclude Students from lessons at its discretion. Please read our Behaviour Policy.
  28. Students participate at their own risk and Parents/Guardians/Students are required to inform PFL and its staff of any existing injuries or medical condition. Any changes to such information must be notified to PFL immediately in writing.
  29. Any medication brought to PFL lessons must be made known to PFL/the Student’s Tutor in advance of the lesson. It must be clearly labelled and the Student should, unless PFL has agreed in writing otherwise, be able to administer it themselves.
  30. If a Student is unwell or has an accident requiring emergency treatment, the Parent/Guardian will be contacted via the contact details they have provided on the enrolment form. These numbers must always be contactable whilst the Student is attending the PFL lesson. Parents/Guardians are solely responsible for ensuring that the emergency contact details on PFL’s records are up to date.
  31. All Parents/Guardians must keep PFL up to date with any changes to personal details, especially emergency contact and medical details.
  32. Parents/Guardians must advise PFL in good time if someone else will be collecting a Student.
  33. Students are obliged to take care of their own belongings. PFL can accept no liability for lost or damaged belongings.
  34. The liability of PFL and that of its staff is restricted to lesson time only and then only to gross negligence.
  35. It is at the Director/Tutor’s discretion to who is entered for their LAMDA / Trinity / RSL examinations.
  36. PFL owns all the rights, title and interest in and to its websites and social media, including software, text and media and its trade marks, logos and brand elements. Nothing within these Terms & Conditions affects or licences the ownership of these rights. Any intellectual property created during any course of lessons or Holiday Workshop is owned by PFL.
